Measuring the pH of Water:
1. Take the measuring cup from your kit.
2. Pour the water sample to be tested up to the 10 ml mark.
3. Hold the A-pH Indicator bottle at a 90-degree angle with the dropper opening. Make sure the drops are not air bubbles. Add 2 drops to the sample, close the cap, and stir 2 times.
4. Determine the pH of the water by comparing the color in the cup with the pH color scale.
5. If the pH is above 8.00, add the B-Neutralization Solution drop by drop, following the color scale in your hand, until the pH reaches around 7.00. Remember how many drops you added. If the pH is not above 8.00, you do not need to add this B-Neutralization Solution.
Measuring Free Chlorine in Water:
1. Take the measuring cup from your kit.
2. Add the water sample to be tested up to the 10 ml mark.
3. Add the number of drops of B-Neutralization Solution determined above. Close the cap and mix.
4. Open the cap and add 8 drops of C-Buffer Solution. Close the cap and mix.
5. Open the cap and add 2 drops of D-Chlorine Indicator. Close the cap and mix. Read after 3 minutes. Compare the reading with the chlorine color scale. Record the ppm value read.
Measuring Total Chlorine:
1. Take the measuring cup from your kit. After measuring free chlorine, add 2 drops of E-Total Chlorine Separator to the same sample cup. Close the lid and mix.
2. After 30 seconds, read by comparing with the chlorine color scale. If there is no color change, total chlorine is equal to free chlorine.
Measuring Bound Chlorine (Chloramine):
1. Subtract the free chlorine amount from the total chlorine amount.
2. This shows the remaining bound chlorine (chloramine) amount.
