| Purpose |
It is preferred for the fixation of hematopoietic and lymphoid tissues. It is used in the routine detection of lymph nodes, spleen-like tissues, and all tissues suspected of lymphoproliferative disease. |
| Working Principle
|
B-5 Fixative is a classic composite fixative used in histopathology laboratories, particularly for the fixation of hematopoietic and lymphoid tissues. It is preferred for the clear preservation of nuclear details and cytoplasmic structures in spleen, lymph node, and bone marrow biopsies. It has been widely used, particularly during lymphoma evaluations and histological examination of hematological diseases, due to its ability to clearly show cellular details. B-5 fixative works through the combined effect of protein precipitating and cross-linking agents. The heavy metal salts in its composition (especially mercury compounds) coagulate cellular proteins, enhancing the sharpness of nuclear and cytoplasmic details. Formaldehyde added during or before use stabilizes tissue architecture and slows autolysis by forming cross-links between proteins. Thanks to this combined effect, chromatin structure, nuclear membrane, and cytoplasmic details are particularly well preserved in lymphoid cells. |
| Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations

Danger. May cause severe skin burns and eye damage. May cause respiratory tract irritation. The product may contain toxic heavy metal components and may be harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause serious health effects. Avoid breathing the product's dust, vapors, or mist. The work area should be well ventilated, preferably using a chemical fume hood. Protective gloves, chemical-resistant protective clothing, eye protection, and face protection equipment should be used.
If the product comes into contact with skin or hair, contaminated clothing should be removed immediately and the affected area washed thoroughly with water. If inhaled, the person should be moved to fresh air and kept in a position that allows easy breathing; if symptoms persist, seek medical attention immediately. In case of eye contact, rinse eyes thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes; if contact lenses are present and can be easily removed, do so and continue rinsing; if eye irritation persists, seek medical attention. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting and seek medical attention immediately. In all cases of exposure or suspected poisoning, seek medical attention immediately and show the product label or Safety Data Sheet to the healthcare professional. Due to the heavy metal content, waste must be disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations. |
