| Purpose |
It is a composite fixative used in histology and histopathology laboratories, particularly for the clear preservation of nuclear details and cytoplasmic structures. It is preferred for the examination of lymphoid tissues, bone marrow, spleen, and certain epithelial tissues. |
| Working Principle
|
SUSA fixative works through the combined effect of multiple active ingredients. The heavy metal salts in its composition contribute to the sharp preservation of both nuclear and cytoplasmic structures by precipitating cellular proteins. Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) coagulates proteins and rapidly stops cellular enzymatic degradation. Formaldehyde stabilizes tissue architecture by forming cross-links between proteins, while acetic acid enhances the clarity of nuclear structures and supports chromatin details. Thanks to this multi-component effect, SUSA provides strong morphological preservation, particularly in histological evaluations where nuclear details are important. |
