Purpose It is used to stain fungi and examine them under a microscope.
Working Principle Lactophenol cotton blue is a blue stain for the direct examination of clinical specimens for fungal elements. The lactic acid in the solution is used especially for the preservation of the fungal elements, phenol for the killing of fungi and cotton blue (aniline blue) for the staining, providing a good appearance.
Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations Danger Harmful if swallowed. Toxic in contact with skin. Toxic by inhalation. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Suspected of causing genetic damage. May cause organ damage through prolonged or repeated exposure. Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapour/spray. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. Application 1- A drop of 95% ethyl alcohol is dropped onto the slide.
2- Take some amount of culture with a nucleus and distribute it in this drop by crushing it with the help of a nucleus.
3- Wait for the alcohol to evaporate.
4- Add a drop of cotton blue lactophenol stain (GBL-2480) and spread it gently with a cotton pick. 5- Cover the coverslip, press lightly and spread.
6- Wait for 10 minutes for the stain to interact and examine under the microscope.
